High-Fidelity Structured Meshing for Predicting Submarine Manoeuvring Forces
This case study shows how GridPro’s structured multiblock meshing enabled accurate CFD prediction of submarine manoeuvring forces for complex DARPA SUBOFF geometries. High-quality, wall-resolved hexahedral meshes delivered stable convergence, captured vortex-dominated flows and asymmetric wakes, and achieved close agreement with experimental data—demonstrating the critical role of mesh quality in high-fidelity submarine hydrodynamics.
